Back in the Christmas 2007 season, Brad Pitt told Regis and Kelly that one of his favorite toys as a child were toy helicopters. His plan for that Christmas was to give his kids the same joy he had as a kid by giving them toy helicopters.

I don’t believe that there have been any reports about what exactly Brad gave the kids, but we can use our imaginations and look at some of the choices out there:

Remote Controlled Helicopters

remote_control_helicopter_brookstone.jpg Brookstone Remote Controlled Helicopter - Ultra-light body and easy-to-use remote control. Operates on different frequencies so it won’t interfere with phones or other wireless devices. Multi-function remote allows you to move the helicopter every which way. Helicopter runs for 15-20 minutes on a charge and has an integrated rechargeable battery. Recharge the aircraft via the charging jack on the remote control. Extra rotors and stabilizers are included in case of hard landings. Remote uses six AA batteries (not included).
remote_control_helicopter_sharper_image.jpg Sharper Image: Air Hogs R/C Havoc Heli Laser Battle - Blast Your Opponent Out of the Air! “World’s smallest advanced radio-controlled helicopter.” Armed with infrared beam weapons — complete with authentic battle and action sounds.
When two Havoc Helis engage in thrilling air-to-air combat, only one will fly away victorious — 3 hits force your opponent down!
Comes complete with two Havoc Helis (each with distinctive markings) and two wireless controllers/chargers (with radio channel selector). Helis run on built-in rechargeable lithium batteries. Each controller runs on 6 AA batteries (order separately). Ages 8 and older.
remote_control_helicopter_hammacher_299.jpg Hammacher Schlemmer, $299 - This remote controlled helicopter can be maneuvered by beginning flight enthusiasts through doorways and hallways indoors, and up to a range of 1,000′ outdoors, because it has counter-rotating rotors that eliminate the unstabilizing effects of angular momentum, a condition common to all traditional helicopters.
remote_control_helicopter_hammacher_79.jpg Hammacher Schlemmer, $79 - This palm-sized helicopter has two contra-rotating coaxial rotors that use gyroscopic inertia to keep the copter balanced and two micro-motors that spin the rotors at varying speeds, resulting in precise and effortless 360 movement up to a range of 50′. Its sleek plastic frame has a tail boom, tail fin, and four landing legs, resulting in a small footprint, making it ideal for indoor flight. Two flashing LEDs allow nighttime or darkened indoor flights. The included rechargeable lithium battery enables flights up to eight minutes and recharges easily from its charging base which requires six C batteries. Two-channel remote transmitter requires one 9-volt battery. Ages 10 and up.
remote_control_helicopter_hammacher_49.jpg Hammacher Schlemmer, $49 - Ready to fly out of the box, this fully-assembled remote-control helicopter allows beginners to test their flying skills indoors in large, open areas, and at heights up to 100′ outdoors. Equipped with operating navigational lights for nighttime flights, the toy helicopter has a counter-balanced rotational drive that keeps the dual coaxial rotors counter-synchronized for stability. The dual-frequency transmitter controls vertical movement up to a range of 200′ for four minutes before requiring a recharge on the included recharge pad, which revitalizes the built-in battery in five minutes. Six sets of decals are included for customizing the look of the helicopter. Requires eight C and two 9-volt batteries. Specify Blue frequency or Orange. Ages 8 and up.
