Get Baby Into The College Spirit!

Posted by giftguy, Jul 30th, 2008

OK, so your baby is smart. Or the baby that you, or your family/friends, are expecting will be really smart.

College Onesies (variety of schools available)
College Youth Rocking Chair

But, nobody is going to tell you to enroll your baby in college yet (maybe you should start saving though).

In the meantime, share your love for your alma mater with your baby – or with the parents who are expecting a baby. This is a great baby shower gift idea for those of you who went to college with the expectant mother!

The Corner Stork has onesies and rocking chairs with some of your favorite college teams and college logos. At the moment, here are the schools that are represented:

GiftGuy and GiftGirl could have used this about a month ago!! Actually, I suppose we still could, but GiftBaby is quickly moving past the swaddling stage.

Baby-Gami: Baby Wrapping for Beginners By Andrea Cornell Sarvady

I can’t tell you how much time, energy, and conversation baby swaddling takes! Obviously, it is not even close to feeding schedules, feeding updates, feeding frustrations, etc.

But, even though the wonderful nurses at the hospital gave us a few “how to swaddle a baby” sessions, we still have not figured out how to get the perfect swaddle in place – one that gets those pesky, jerky arms under control, and also prevents the sudden leg kicks from loosening up our attempts at the perfect swaddle.

When I saw that this baby swaddling book was out there, I knew that this would be a perfect gift idea for expecting mothers, new moms, and new dads (like me).

Book Gift Baskets Are a Novel Idea

Posted by MsGift, Jul 21st, 2008

If you are a regular GiftStumped reader you already know that MsGift LOVES LOVES LOVES gift baskets. (Unique gift baskets of course!)  They are fun, they make great gifts and more importantly they are easy.

Someone from  Red Wagon Presents contacted us last week about their site which sells book gift baskets.  The site is new and has some super cool stuff on it, in particular the Italian gift basket.

italian-gift-basket.jpgThe Italian gift basket includes three books – an Italian cookbook from William Sonoma, a book on red wine and a book on cheeses.  The books come wrapped in a colander and include two wooden spoons…AWESOME!  Being Italian how can I not love this?

The Italian gift basket will run you $80 but for three awesome books all wrapped up in this delightful package it’s not a bad deal.  They are also is running a deal where if you make a purchase they will give you 10% off.  Simply use the code: RWP

The best part of the whole thing?  Each book gift basket comes with a little Radio Flyer #1 Wagon!  So darn cute!

Give that expecting mother or new mom something they can really use – a high-quality diaper bag!

But, (as you may already know), not all diaper bags are created equal – see below for our thoughts on what makes the perfect diaper bag.

The perfect diaper bag must have the following:

  • Room for extra clothes, bibs & burp clothes
  • An area not just for bottles, but also for storing powdered formula kept in a container.
  • In the area where bottle(s) are kept there should also be a place that can hold a small ice pack to keep the bottles cold…must also be insulated!
  • A “binky” pod
  • An area to keep Mom’s essentials (wallet, keys, checkbook, lip gloss)
  • A pocket for hand sanitizer
  • Plenty of room for EXTRA diapers (not just one or two) and a travel size wipe container
  • The strap must be long enough so that the diaper bag can work like a messenger (courier) bag. This way the bag won’t fall in front of you when taking baby out of the car.
  • And, it should look good!!!! Mom should be stylin’. And, Dad should not be embarrassed to carry it around :)
Tell us what you think is essential in a diaper bag that works…
