A Tasty Gift for July 4th

Posted by MsGift, Jul 01st, 2008

bagels.gifThe Shopping Blog has a good post about red, white and blue bagels from Bruegger’s that will be available this upcoming Thursday and Friday.

Bruegger’s is one of my favorite places to get a bagel (jalapeno cream cheese mmm) and it makes me like them more that they are doing it for charity.

Here is what the Bruegger’s corporate site has to say:

“Bruegger’s will offer its New York-style, hot-from-the-oven red, white and blue swirled bagels to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday and help the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of patriotic bagels will benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.”

Find a Bruegger’s near you and give some patriotic bagels to your friends this July 4th weekend!

pen.jpgOne of my favorite things about being on an airplane is reading the SkyMall magazine. I like to pretend I have a big house and copious amounts of money and then I pick out all of the completely unnecessary things that make up SkyMall.

I also look through it and every time think, ‘Oh man what an awesome idea’. This past weekend was no exception as I found one of the coolest inventions EVER!

A pen that has a recorder, an FM radio, a flash drive and can play MP3s! I would feel like James Bond with that thing!

Here is what SkyMall says about it:

“These multifunction pens digitally record up to 64 hours using a built in microphone. They can also transfer 2 GB of data and play up to 1000 songs in MP3 or WMA format. The CompuFlash mo0del is also an FM radio.”

The pen will only run you $89.99! This would make a great gift for a college student, a co-worker, the salesman in your life or anyone interested in gadgets.

snowglobe.jpgTo some, snow globes are those gifts you get and think, “Now what do I do with this?”.  But to others they are fun to collect and can be gazed upon for hours.

While snow globes aren’t exactly unique unto themselves, there are some pretty awesome/hilarious ones that are.

Martin & Munoz have created a line of hand-crafted snow globes featuring scenes you would not typically find in a snow globe.  For instance, the travelers collection contains scenes of a man with a giant spider behind him or a kid being held over a well by one foot.  There is an island scene with people walking on stilts and another of a man being held at gunpoint. They are really quite interesting and make you think about what you are seeing.

They also are limited in numbers and hard to find.  I did come across some at Unica Home but I am not sure of the availability.  A warning, these aren’t your typical snow globes in looks or price.  Each one will run you about $750!  Here are some additional ones:

Friday Finds from the Gift World

Posted by MsGift, Jun 06th, 2008

I am feeling lazy today so I thought I would point you toward some great gifts other people are talking about:

  • Art lovers take notice. Shawn at Everything and Nothing has the ‘Most Beautiful Book in the World‘. This $150,000 book titled Michelangelo: La Dotta Mano features photos of Michelangelo’s works.
  • Kristin at Cool Mom Picks has a really cool ‘Baby Makes Three Necklace‘. The necklace contains three rings held together on a cable chain. This would make a great gift for the expecting mother!
  • Know someone in your life who is just a little TOO paranoid? The Hidden Camera Detector they have over at Kaboodle would be a good solution. For $25 you can put someone’s mind at ease that there are no hidden cameras in their house.
  • Violet has these Wobbly Cognac Glasses that would make a great gift for the alcohol aficionado in your life. They look fun and I bet I could spend hours watching it wobble around.

All right that’s the round-up. Have a great weekend fellow gift givers!

A Cruzin Cooler for a Cool Dad

Posted by MsGift, Jun 05th, 2008

cooler4.jpgFather’s Day is fast approaching and you may still be trying to figure out what to get for your pops. Well my dad isn’t a Red Sox fan and he doesn’t collect anything but like me, he does enjoy relaxing outdoors and having a few brews. And…every so often he ventures over to the neighbors house and hangs out by their pool.

The Cruzin Cooler may very well be the perfect gift for my dad. Heck, it may be the perfect gift for most of the men I know. This thing is awesome!

Here is an excerpt from the site:

“Cruzin Cooler combines two basic necessities of life, the ability to have cold food or a beverage handy along with the means to get somewhere, without walking”…”is available in gas and electric models, with a 10 mile range on electric models and 30 miles on the gas models. The cooler can be used for hunting, sporting events, races, camping, golf or even a trip to the grocery store to keep your food cold all the way home.”

You have to check out the specs on this thing!

The Cruzin Cooler is only $350 at Cabelas or you can find a distributor near you. (As a side note it isn’t legal everywhere but they do give a list of states where it is)

Just picture Dad cruisin around on this thing, cold beers in the cooler and meats for grilling in tow…man, my dad would be in Heaven!
